2010-03-31 ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, announced an agreement with Remote Solutions to act as a national reseller and integrator of Remote Solutions’ Safe-T-Rack remote racking system. The Safe-T-Rack remote racking system can be used with ABB, ITE legacy, as well as other manufacturer’s low and medium voltage circuit breakers and switchgear, making it a perfect complement to ABB’s roll-in replacement breaker and power systems service offerings.

“We are pleased to offer our customers the Safe-T-Rack solution,” said Rick Gardner, ABB Sales and Marketing Manager for Low and Medium Voltage Service. “This safety enhancement helps fill a gap in our portfolio of aftermarket solutions.”

OSHA standards now recognize the hazards associated with arc flash incidents as defined in NFPA 70E. The new OSHA standards create heightened awareness of arc flash mitigation solution requirements associated with circuit breaker racking operations. By incorporating the Safe-T-Rack® system into its portfolio, ABB provides its customers a safer operating environment for their personnel through the proven method of adding distance between the operator and arc flash incident energy at the switchgear site. The application of a Safe-T-Rack solution will ensure compliance with new arc flash mitigation regulations and bring operation of power circuit breakers to a new level of safety.

“Remote Solutions is excited to work with ABB” said Robyn Nicholson, Remote Solutions Director of Sales and Marketing. “We believe having a national partnership with ABB is strategic to our growth and continued success in the marketplace. The opportunity to drive Safe-T-Rack sales and installation service into new market segments and further deepen our penetration in the utility markets with ABB is enormous.”

The Safe-T-Rack system has been on the market for more than eight years and has successful installations in power transmission, distribution, nuclear, and generation facilities across the United States. The Safe-T-Rack family of patented products is designed to be scalable and future-proof. Offering a fully portable system, including a color touch screen interface with true closed-door racking capability for increased operator safety, is unmatched in industry. Redundant digital drives with battery backup provide fail-safe racking in the event of a power failure. Real-time breaker travel indication and user controls include an emergency stop at any time during racking, manual start/stop, and automatic retrieval and recovery of a circuit breaker, make the Safe-T-Rack system the benchmark of remote racking tools.
