Q: Does the switchgear have to be de-energized for STR® installation?
A: No, Installation of STR® may be accomplished without service interruption. However, individual circuit outages are recommended to inspect and service the circuit breaker racking mechanism during the STR® installation.

Q: How long does it take to install STR®?
A: Typically a STR® cubicle kit installation takes approximately 45 minutes, but you should allow additional time for service/repair of the elevating mechanism. An average cubicle service/repair and STR® kit install takes approximately 2 hours.

Q: Are the modifications to the existing switchgear extensive?
A: No. The only modifications are holes drilled in the cubicle door for mounting the pendant control receptacle.

Q: Once STR® is installed, can the OE elevating motor ever be used again?
A: Yes, STR® is easily backward compatible to the OE motor because STR® does not require any control wire or hardware modification.

Q: Do we continue to pull the circuit breaker control fuses prior to racking the breaker?
A: No, STR® provides remote operator control of circuit breaker functions, including: Charge/Close/Trip. So the breaker will not charge until the operator chooses.

Q: How do you confidently rack up/down a breaker with the door closed?
A: Our system includes a unique monitoring device named LimiTilt™ which measures relative tilt angles of the circuit breaker in motion and stops motor operation when tilt angles exceed factory preset limits.
